Hello world, and how are you? I must admit I am on a bit of a downer today, Bailey has gone back to the kennels and I am constantly thinking about being back at work next week. I am really not looking forward to it as it is going to be such an upheaval having to get back into a routine and being back in an office full of people. That being said if I use it to my advantage I can make it into a positive and get myself back on the way to being the real me. I know that I am coming along in leaps and bounds but at the moment I am in control of my own life whereas being back at work I will have to 'obey someone elses rules' and make sure I am up at set times and dressed and out by certain times. Mind you, structure is a good thing, not having any rules to follow can lead you to become complacent and I think that is possibly part of my problem now as I have not had to follow any structure for the last few months, firstly because I was unable to but now maybe I have fell into that well known thing called a rut. Hmm, seeing it on paper it is starting to make sense, I am not saying this is one hundred percent true but at this moment in time that is what I am thinking. Tomorrow I will probably have a completely different conclusion.
Back to Bailey, I said that I would tell of his adventures over the weekend so here goes:
We picked him up about 2:30 on Friday and talk about excited, in the end we took him for a walk before we even put him on the car just to try and settle him down a bit. Once in the car, I sat in the back with him and Ian drove (a bit obvious really as the only driving I do is when I am driving people mad)!! First thing he did was jump between the front seats so that he could ride shotgun, this was not happening, no one rides shotgun except me! Anyway, once back in the back I got him in a headlock and off we set, then he realised that there where windows and of course he wanted to do the dog thing and stick his head out so down went the window, only a little way, just enough for him to get his nose out, so still in a headlock and slobbering all down the window we drove home. I think he is psychic, as we got near Saisbury's he seemed to sense that we where almost there and started to get really excited so Ian dropped us off and i walked him the rest of the way home. He even seemed to know which house he was going to as he went straight to our front door and just stood there waiting to go in. Once inside the first thing he did was find his bowl of water and have a drink, then outside for a bit of scenting work, then back in to find where the food was hidden, I am not kidding you, this dog can eat, its a good job we could be strict and limit his food to the amount that he needed for his size. And let me tell you, this one year old puppy had been saving everything that he has eaten for the last month so that he could christen our garden and decking.
Now we used to have a St Bernard and they can poop but Bailey, I could have done with a barrow to help me!
Anyway three walks, one feed and five hours later he was finally settling down then I was called away to a family emergency and ended up sleeping out and leaving Ian in charge. One O'clock in the morning I received a text saying: 'Barked at Andrew when he came in, just done another pile in the garden, cleared it up, now he's asleep on the settee in the conservatory', bless, you just got to love them!
Saturday I arrived home bearing sandwiches about 10am, by 10:45 we where walkng around Hessle foreshore, then my back decided to give way as we where walking on the pebbles and it couldnt cope with the uneven surface as well as being pulled when Bailey got to the end of his extended lead. So, it took about 10 minutes to get back onto the road but once we did my back started to ease up a bit so off we toddled and walked home. finally got in at just after lunch and I dont know who was more tired, him or me, he had a drink and then settled down on the settee. He was out for the count for most of the afternoon but woke up when he was ready to go again and to have something to eat, so off we went again, more poop, more walking, more fighting to get his lead and halty on, more food when we got back, more poop in the garden, bloody hell this dog can poop!!!
Because Ian had slept downstairs with him Friday night I decided to sleep with him on the Saturday, (we didnt get much choice on this as he knew how to open doors, did not like being left on his own and we didnt want him upstairs), I have never allowed a dog upstairs as for me personally its not right, I know many people do and that is up to them but for me its a no no. Anyway, I put the recliner on the settee out and with Bailey by my side nodded off, sometime during the night he got off and went to lay on the floor so I twisted myself around so that I was laid along the length of the sette and quite comfy, 5:30 in the morning I awoke to the feeling of being squashed and a funny noise near my face, turned out that Bailey had decided he wanted to be back on the sofa so had jumped up, laid out over my full length and proceeded to sniff and lick my face, lovely!
Sunday was spent doing a lot of playing in the garden with a ball, we did go for a walk but it wasnt very far as my back was still playing up. I think Bailey enjoyed himself, he seemed to, I know we did, its such a shame that we cant keep him but Ian is allergic to him and his excma has started back due to the hairs and being licked. He is only a puppy and with a bit of training he will be absolutely fantastic for whoever takes him on.
