Oh well, I have finally lost the plot, ok, so those of you that know me well will say that I lost it years ago but can I help it if I live in my own little world.
I had something planned for every day this week and was really looking forward to getting out every day. Then the snow started. How bad was it yesterday, it was blizzard like most of the morning. I was due to go to my cousins and I was even going to try and ride my bike there as it only takes me half an hour whereas the bus takes about an hour, (she lives east Hull but I can get a bus directly to the end of her street so dont have to mess about changing at the station). Anyway the weather being what it was I ended up not going as the buses for Hessle can be a right pain when there is snow on the ground, the bus company tend to start cancelling them, anyway I turned the negative into a positive and got all my ironing out of the road along with my cousin ringing me so we had a right good natter and rearranging for Wednesday.
Now for the plot losing episode!!!
I had arranged to go to see my friend in Withernsea today, but once again the weather put me off. So I dropped her an email yesterday asking if we could postpone until the snow cleared up, "Of course" she said, "I wouldnt expect you to come while its like this, it will be too cold to sit on the prom watching the water". She then went on to mention the date, oops, we had arranged to meet on the 19th not today, doh, I had been telling everyone that I was going this week and I had got it totally wrong, its a good job I emailed her as if the weather hadn't been snowing I would have just got on the bus and turned up with a text to let her know when the bus was nearing Withernsea!!!!!! Oh well, I would have had to sit there on my own, wouldn't be the first time and I doubt if it would have been the last.
So now what to do today, it looks quite icy out there so not sure if I will risk going out. I hate it when its icy, not much frightens me (well normally) but ice and pot holing, you would never ever ever get me to go pot holing, its too scary, what if you get stuck in one of the holes and the water comes up higher than you can stand or you cant get out of the hole or your light goes out and you cant see................... Oh no, I am getting panicky just thinking about it, nope a pot holers life is definately not for me. And back to my fear of ice, I have fell on the ice so many times that I now have a genuine fear of it, luckily I have not broken anything (well so far and I hope I am not tempting fate with that remark). I think the worst time was one day on my way to work, I usually cycle through a cut through but this day there had been a sudden frost over night and there was black ice everywhere. Anyway I decided to walk with my bike on the grass at the side of the path, whilst walking my bike took it upon itself to go on the ice, the wheels went from under it, knocking me off my feet so that I landed on top of it, the worst was yet to come, I couldnt get up, every time I tried to stand up my feet slipped on the ice and down I went on top of my bike again, I must have looked like a right idiot but I can honestly say that if someone had a camera and videod me they would have earned a fortune on these programmes on tv. Another time I fell straight in front of Sam Moa's house, oh I hope he didnt see me, he always used to laugh at me anyway without me falling on my backside in front of him. I still havent quite worked out what he thought was so funny about me but honestly, I think I was starting to get a bit of a complex as he used to have this really cheeky grin that he always seemed to reserve just for me, its a shame he has gone back home now as I would have eventually ended up asking him what he thought was so funny. That being said, Shaun McKrae used to do the same, he always laughed when he saw me, especially the time I started blowing my top because the club had been advertising some shirts that where the old woolen style and then decided they couldnt get them so I went off on one at him, omg how embarrasing, and he just stood there and took it, at the end he just laughed and asked if I was feeling better!!!! Every time I saw him after that he always laughed, there again I suppose it will have been a memorable occasion having this mad woman shouting the odds!!!!! By the way, for those of you that dont know, both of the above are from Hull RLFC.
Walking down memory lane can be quite good, especially when you remember all the good things that have happened in your life, I have so many good memories and would love to tell you all about them, maybe one day I will but for now we shall just discuss ice and avoid pot holing alltogether. I even managed to slip on the ice during the last snow that we had, Ian had taken me shopping and on the way home I called in at the local chip shop, on my way back to the car I stepped on some ice and down I went, the bag with our lunch in got slung at the car and I tried to grab a post to stop me falling but that didnt work, instead I sprained my wrist, Ian, bless him, got out of the car and came over to help me get up, instead he got my wrath as I was so embarrassed (yet again). Poor Ian, he does go through the mill with me!!!!
One time, when we still had Smudge the St Bernard I took him for a walk in bad weather, now where I live there is an overflow for the river Humber, this has a grass verge with a small fence seperating it from the road, I bet you know what is coming dont you, yes you got it, Smudge jumped over the fence, I lost my footing and landed on my face, Smudge kept running and being such a big dog pulled me over the ice on my belly, oh dear, I was so dirty by the time I got home but at least Smudge enjoyed himself.
And on that note, I think I better sign off for a while, hopefully you will now have a smile on your face at my escapades.
Speak to you soon
